(Hello!  We are glad you have come to visit us.)

Welcome to the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana’s Website!  Our Mission is to protect, promote, record, and share the Miami of Indiana’s history, language, culture, and heritage. The purpose of this site is to share these and our on going struggle to regain our Federal Recognition, with all people . We are members of a Native American Tribe that to this day is still in Indiana, part of our original home lands. Our Federal Recognition was illegally taken from us in the late 1800s so for now we are a registered 501(c)3 not for profit until we regain our recognition. We hope you enjoy our site, learn more about our Tribe, and if you have questions or comments, please send them to us via the “Contact Us” link.

While we raised the matching funds, the deterioration in some spots grew worse and the cost of materials increased! We need to raise about $5,000 to cover these increases and complete the project. Won’t you please donate today!?

We have made some great strides towards regaining our federal Recognition!

Ever since our federal recognition was illegally removed in 1898, we continue to fight to regain it! Recently we have made some positive strides towards that goal, but need your help! The application process requires considerable funds for attornies, social and historical studies, travel costs, and more! Won’t you please consider helping achieve this goal and help restore our rightful recognition from the federal government as a Native American tribe!?

Congratulations Emyle Hobbs, our Miami Maiden for 2023-2024!!

Learn more about her goals as Maiden, meet past Maidens, and learn about the Miami Maiden Program under the Culture section of this website!
